Sri Sunarsih, M.Si. memiliki kepakaran di bidang matematika terapan dan pemodelan lingkungan, dengan fokus riset pada pemodelan dan optimasi sistem pengolahan air limbah, proses adveksi–difusi, serta pengambilan keputusan berbasis model matematis. Penerapan keilmuannya banyak digunakan untuk analisis kualitas air, perancangan dan optimasi wastewater treatment plant, serta pemodelan dinamika sistem lingkungan.
