On July 14, 2026, the Master of Linguistics Program, Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Diponegoro University, held the CARDHISS (Corpus Approaches to Digital Humanities and Social Science) Workshop 2026 as part of efforts to strengthen corpus linguistics-based research in the field of digital humanities and social sciences. This workshop presented two international experts, Ting Ting Wu from the National Yunlin University of Science and Technology, Taiwan, and Prof. Dr. Priyankoo Sarmah from the Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati (IITG), India, with the theme Language Documentation and Translation for Digital Humanities.
This workshop highlighted the importance of language documentation and translation as a foundation for cultural heritage preservation and the development of digital resources that support interdisciplinary research. Amid the rapid development of digital data analysis, the corpus linguistics approach offers an effective method for processing, analyzing, and utilizing text data in various fields, from linguistics, literature, culture, history, anthropology, to the social sciences.
This activity also served as a momentum for the launch and strengthening of the Corpus Approaches to Digital Humanities and Social Science (CARDHISS) research group at the Faculty of Humanities, Diponegoro University. This research group aims to develop corpus-based research, expand international academic collaboration, produce reputable scientific publications, and encourage the application of corpus methodology in interdisciplinary studies. Through this initiative, Diponegoro University reaffirms its commitment to strengthening the digital research ecosystem and supporting the improvement of its academic reputation at the global level, including contributing to the achievement of the QS World University Rankings targets.
